Calgarian Filmmaker wins $10,000 in video contest
We asked Canadians to make us laugh... and they did… in both languages!
Super U is proud to announce “Car Dance Party Moscow” directed by Calgarian Ryan Northcott, as the $10, 000 winner of the side-splitting SuperU.ca video contest “It's Hilarious”. Northcott will also be making his comedic debut at a screening at the Just for Laughs Film Festival and has the chance to be broadcast on Super Channel.
Northcott is no stranger to making people laugh, he and pals David Haysom and Erik Eldman have developed their own website (fuddytv.com) which showcases their hysterical viral videos. As it turns out, their humour is contagious! Ryan and his comrades have had their videos featured on CityTV Calgary, News Night (on the BBC), and CNN, just to name a few!
Coming in 2nd place and earning $7,500 was Mathieu Clavet from Montreal, Quebec, with the French-language "Panasony V4000 Pro" and Vancouver's own “Ranting Parent” with "Whisper Mom" took home 3rd place and $5,000.
Selecting a winner for "It's Hilarious" was no laughing matter... who are we kidding! Of course it was! The winner was chosen by our panel of Canadian comedy icons:
Tommy Chong, "Cheech and Chong",
Ron James, #1 selling comedian in Canada.
Paul Ronca, Just for Laughs Film Festival
It's Hilarious is just the beginning, www.superu.ca has many more contests to come.
