ONLINE Mar. 19, 2009 - Sometimes love doesn’t conquer all. An exploration of unspoken heartache, “Pillow Talk” by Kim St. Pierre has won the $2,500 cash prize in Super U’s Broken Hearts Club contest. The short film, chosen by a celebrity panel of judges, will be featured on SuperU.ca and LaineyGossip.com, and also have the chance to be broadcast on Super Channel.
“Pillow Talk” was awarded top prize by judges internationally known gossip columnist Lainey Lui of LaineyGossip.com and CTV’s etalk; Canadian sex and relationship expert Josey Vogels; and acclaimed actress Erin Karpluk (“Being Erica”, “The L Word”, “Godiva’s”).
"All the films showed real charm, innovation and a fresh take on love and relationships but “Pillow Talk” truly stood out as a brilliant slice of relationship life, depicting the moments between all the good stuff, the gristle that we all have to chew on in the quiet, lonely moments in the middle of the night. Wonderfully subtle performances and terrific writing,” said the jury.
As for Kim St. Pierre, she plans to use her prize money to fund her next film project. “Super U is a great, ambitious project. I saw the site the first day it was online and I started uploading [my films] the same night - I am hooked!” St. Pierre said.
To help mend some real life broken hearts, Super U has also donated $1,000 to the Heart and Stroke Foundation on behalf of everyone involved in the Broken Hearts Club contest.
